December Fishing Report

Hello fellow anglers Merry Christmas.. December and there are lots of choices to target. Inshore you got reds, snook, trout, pompano, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, and flounder. Snook is only catch and release, the reds you can find along the mangroves and in the mouths of creeks. Trout out on the grass flats with pompano out on the edges of the sandbars. Sheepshead could be found around docks and structure. Flounder like the sandy bottoms close to the grass where the current flows and flushes bait off the grass beds.  These species will eat shrimp that you can get at your local bait shop. Black drum around the bridges they will eat a half of a blue crab. Mangrove snapper like structure where they can get out of the current and feed on the baits that flow with the current.. This time of year they will eat shrimp, that is what is in the local waters naturally at this time of year till March. Offshore there is a wide variety also, king and Spanish mackerel, that we troll for mostly. Gag grouper till the 1st. of 2018, triple tail around the stone crab trap buoys. Sheepshead and flounder are starting to migrate into the Gulf to spawn and go as deep as 45-50 ft. At these same places offshore you may also catch mangrove snapper, and hogfish. This is also a windy month with cold fronts coming through makes it difficult to venture out into the Gulf. If you would like to go with Capt. Bart Marx call 941-979-6517 or e=mail captbart@alphaomegacharters.com  And for that guest or the one that you don’t know what to get for Christmas, a gift certificate for a fishing trip will work. So always remember singing drags and tight lines make me smile. <*(((((>{
